OVERVIEW

Jönköping University is a young professional-oriented university characterised by a high degree of internationalization, an entrepreneurial spirit and extensive collaboration with surrounding society. It is one of three Swedish private, non-profit institutions of higher education with the right to award doctorates. JU operates on the basis of an agreement with the Swedish Government and conforms to national degree regulations and quality requirements. Jönköping University has around 11,000 students, of which 2,000 are international students. The Accommodation Office cooperates with many different landlords around Jönköping to offer a variety of accommodations to our international students.

Since the campus is situated in the middle of the city centre, there are no housing options on campus. Instead, the student accommodations are spread throughout the city. The various housing options accommodate anywhere between 20 to 550 students.

LIVING EXPENSES

The following example of a feasible monthly budget will give you some idea of the costs of living in Sweden. 

  • Accommodation: 2,400-4,000 SEK depending on location  
  • Food: 2,000 SEK  
  • Telephone: 300 SEK  
  • Monthly bus tickets: 480 SEK  
  • Laundry and hygiene: 250 SEK
