Overview

Nottingham Trent University is a forward thinking institution and adheres to the standards you would expect from a modern day academic institution.

NTU is one of the most sustainable universities in the world and we have been awarded Green Flags for our Brackenhurst and Clifton Campuses. They have approximately 27,000 students (HESA 2014 / 15) and have invested £350 million since 2003 across their three Campuses to create an inspiring learning environment.

NTU offers great employment prospects to students at all levels. 94% of graduates and 95% of postgraduates are employed or engaged in further study six months after leaving (according to DLHE undergraduate and postgraduate survey results 2014 / 15).

Accommodation

Nottingham is in the middle of the country - you can get to either London or Manchester in just two hours. With excellent transport links, travelling in and around the city or to other parts of the UK is easy, fast and convenient.

What this means, of course, is that Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is in the perfect spot for exploring the rest of the country and beyond. More specifically:

  • Birmingham and Sheffield are a mere hour away - you can get to either London or Manchester in just two hours
  • East Midlands Airport – just 15 miles from Nottingham city centre – offers flights to loads of European cities, opening up a whole continent for you to explore the beautiful and historic Peak District – one of the biggest and most popular national parks in England – is right on our doorstep. This stunning countryside lies just an hour’s travel to the west of Nottingham
  • The coast is just two hours away to the east.
  • As the capital of the East Midlands, Nottingham has all the culture, nightlife, shopping, music, sports and attractions you would expect, making it the perfect home from home.

Nottingham isn’t very far from the north of England, but then again it’s pretty close to the south, too. It’s right in the middle of the country, in fact – neither ‘up north’ nor ‘down south’– the city’s excellent transport links mean you can easily get to where you need to go. You could say it’s the perfect place to study – far enough away from home that your parents don’t pop in unannounced but not too far away that you can’t take your washing home when you want to!

  • NTU guarantee accommodation to all new students.

If you’re a new student at NTU, you can relax because we’ll definitely offer you a place in one of our university-allocated residences – as long as you book before 31 July. This could be in a University-owned hall of residence, a hall of residence run by our partner providers or private companies, or accredited shared housing.

  • You’ll live in a great student community.

If you’re living away from home for the first time, you don’t want to go it alone. Settling in and making friends are essential first steps to take when you arrive at university, and living in one of our residences is an ideal way to do this.

Your home will be in a great location on or near to one of the Campuses, so you’ll never be too far away from all the action. There’s always plenty going on in your residence, too – each has Residence Assistants to help you settle in and Hall Committees to plan activities and events.

  • It has excellent security.

For your peace of mind, all of our residences feature a range of security measures including CCTV, door entry systems and on-site or on-call security staff.

  • You’ll have free Wi-Fi.

Whichever of our residences you live in, you’ll have free Wi-Fi.

  • There’s no need to worry about bills.

Your heating, water and electricity bills are all included in your residence fees, so you won’t have any extra bills to pay. Your room will be centrally-heated and you’ll have a constant supply of hot water. You’ll even get free basic contents insurance covering a range of belongings, which you can easily “top-up” to cover your more expensive items.

  • There’s a residence for you.

Whatever’s most important to you, there’s a residence to suit your needs and preferences, with a mixture of studios and cluster flats with either ensuite or shared facilities. Looking for a real community feel? Why not choose a residence with a common room? What about if you have a disability or special needs? You can rest assured that our team of dedicated accommodation advisors will work closely with you and with the University’s Student Support Services to make sure you get the right room and support.

To apply for NTU accommodation you should book the accommodation.

However, if you decide not to stay at University's accommodation, NTU offers you other accommodation possibilities as well.
