The leisure sector is one of the largest in the world. This course
gives you hands-on experience of an event right from day one. In the
first term of their first year, students played a part in Monster Jam,
the monster truck event held at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium. Other
students have been involved with running a Victorian evening at nearby
Castell Coch and a medieval fayre at Caerphilly Castle.
You will graduate from this event management degree with knowledge
and practical experience of running an event, but you will also have
key business skills that you need for all kinds of careers. Key
organisations, such as the national heritage bodies and festival
organisers, give guest lectures as part of the course, giving you a
taste of how your learning relates to the real world.
Possible Career Options
Events are held in all sectors, so your skills will be in demand in
the private, public and voluntary sectors – whatever your interests,
there are events to match. The general business skills you will
develop could also lead you to other areas of business, like sales and
marketing, PR or general management.
