Overview

The BA (Hons) Events & Festival Management degree will prepare you with the skills and knowledge required to work within the events and festival industry.

Delivery of this degree comes from lecturers that have extensive industry and academic experience, enabling the students to integrate theory and practice thus further enhancing their employability.

Programme structure

Both practical and academic, this programme has been developed through extensive consultation with industry professionals, focusing on trends shaping the event and festival industry today, with particular emphasis on safety.

The programme is forward-looking and will remain responsive to the ongoing changes taking place in the event and festival industry. Linking theory with practice is an important aspect of this course. Every other year we hold an international safety conference for industry professionals and much of their work is included when reviewing the course. In addition to this, students are asked their thoughts twice a year and changes are made where needed. Undertaking both aspects of this greatly enhances the student’s employability.

Students have the opportunity of engaging with world leading industry experts with extensive track records both in the field and in the lecture room.

From the very start of this degree, students are linked to a charity and deliver events. Later in the programme as the students gain experience, they are assessed delivering events.

In the second year of study the students finish at Easter to undertake a placement. Students have undertaken this in Africa, Asia and Europe. All students will be offered paid work, by interview, from major event organisations.

Students graduating from this programme will be highly employable in the event and festival industry.

Features of this course include:

field trips (both national and international)
Work placements,
Extensive industry support / world recognised guest lectures.
