Information Technology has an enormous impact on companies and other organisations, and on society as a whole. This comes with the necessary technical challenges of implementing the IT solutions and getting them up and running, but also wider and more fundamental challenges. With this specialisation, you will gain knowledge of how IT affects organisations, also from the perspective of Management Science, and become an expert on how organisations can handle security and privacy concerns.

Master’s in Information Sciences: something for you?

- The programme provides you with a unique combination of technological and organisational expertise.
- You will be taught by experts from both Nijmegen School of Management and the Institute for Computing and Information Sciences (iCIS).
- The student-run company GipHouse gives you practical experience in management, design and implementation of ICT solutions.
- This study programme is rated top programme for two consecutive years according to the students and is rated the best in its field (Keuzegids Master’s 2019).

Programme structure

The Master’s programme in Information Sciences is taught at the Faculty of Science in collaboration with Nijmegen School of Management. Courses are 3 or 6 EC and the Master’s thesis is 18 EC.

Career opportunities

There is a big demand for highly trained information experts who can bridge the gap between the builders and the users of IT to ensure good, user-friendly technology that meets an organisation’s needs. Many of the students are offered jobs even before they graduate. Most go into industry, banking and insurance, or public-sector organisations such as schools and hospitals.

Students with this Master’s degree could think of positions as consultants, project managers or ICT specialists. More and more companies are adding the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) to their board of directors and they are increasingly legally obliged to have a Privacy Officer. This Master’s programme is definitely a good stepping stone for reaching this kind of positions in your future career.
