Entry qualification | Undergraduate diploma (or higher) Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent, from a research university) from a geography-related discipline, such as Spatial Planning, Geography, Environment Studies. For students with a completed Bachelor’s degree in a related area such as International Relations, Social Sciences, Anthropology, Psychology, History, Philosophy, Religion Studies, European Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Development Studies, Language Studies, Architecture, (Urban) Design Studies, Leisure and Tourism, Conflict Studies and Management Sciences your prior education might first need to be approved by the Examination Board, by a matter of an intake interview. Please provide a list of all courses you have taken, are taking and are planning to take including course content, the number of hours and literature used. See an example here. In this specialisation you will learn to understand and interpret advanced theories and practices of leisure and tourism and the interaction between tourism and the social, cultural and physical environment.
Master’s specialisation Cultural Geography and Tourism: something for you?

- Although the foundation of this specialisation is geographical, the approach to this theme is highly multidisciplinary to include related fields.
- You will conduct your Master’s thesis research in the framework of a research internship at an organisation active in a field related to tourism.
Programme structure
The Master’s specialisation in Cultural Geography and Tourism is taught at the Nijmegen School of Management. It has a course load of 60 EC* (one-year) and offers space for elective courses, with which students can give their programme their own personal finishing touch.
