This course aims to extend your understanding of business and personnel and the impact their management can have on successful organisations with our Human Resource Management MA, which can be studied full or part-time.

The management and development of human resources is a challenging task in any organisation. As the rapid pace of technological change continues, markets expand internationally and legislation becomes increasingly complex, and so the need to ensure both the business and its personnel adapt accordingly has become ever more important.

This Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) accredited course* is designed for those who want to pursue senior level careers in human resource management (HRM). We aim to cover the essential theoretical knowledge, intellectual frameworks and practical skills required by today’s employers in a range of business contexts.

Career opportunities

Within an internationally diverse learning environment, upon successful completion of the course you should gain a clear understanding of a broad range of HR, managerial and business principles, practices and competencies.

You should develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and become a reflective HR professional with an appreciation of how properly conducted research can enhance your performance as a future manager.

The design of the course is aimed at helping you select and focus on specific specialist areas of HRM or HRD, depending on your career specific aspirations within the human resources field. There will be opportunities to work with employers on problem-based assessments to gain experience producing policy documents relevant to the changing world of work. (Opportunities are subject to availability, competitive application, meeting visa requirements and additional fees may apply)

Every student within the Faculty has access to an Employment Personal Tutor, aligned to their area of study, to work with them throughout their course on securing placements and future graduate roles.

Our Master’s course provides excellent opportunities to progress your career as a Human Resource Manager, Head of Human Resources, Personnel Manager or Performance Consultant. The CIPD*qualification is required for nearly all UK-based HR jobs and you upon successful graduation you will gain the knowledge required at advanced level for CIPD membership, which can lead to professional membership at associate, chartered member or fellow levels (see the accreditations section of this webpage for further details).

Coventry University is committed to preparing you for your future career and giving you a competitive edge in the graduate job market. The University’s Careers and Employability team provide a wide range of support services to help you plan and prepare for your career.
