Overview
This course will give you an insight into core components of the British Psychological Society (BPS) curriculum, including biological, cognitive, developmental and social psychology, as well as conceptual and historical issues in psychology.
It’s a one-year, full-time course designed for students who don’t have a degree in psychology but who do have an honours degree in another subject (minimum 2:1).
The MSc will equip you with the necessary understanding, skills and qualifications to enable you to pursue a career in psychology or cognate discipline.
Once you have successfully completed the course, you’ll be eligible to apply for Graduate Basis for Chartered membership (GBC) of the BPS. This means you’ll be eligible to apply for professional training programmes.

All students in the School of Education belong to an exciting research community and have the chance to take part in seminars and other activities. Students on the MSc (Conversion) will be invited to activities organised by the Centre for Critical Psychology and Education.

A 15-20,000-word dissertation
For the dissertation study, you’ll be supported by an experienced research tutor who has expertise in the appropriate field.
Throughout the course, you’ll keep a reflective learning log. This is not assessed formally as a written piece of work, but is an essential component for any potential practitioner wishing to use psychologically-informed concepts following a period of study at masters-level.
