Overview

The tourism industry has become one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. In Britain, tourism employs around 2.6 million people and supports more than 200,000 small and medium-sized businesses. This programme has been developed to meet the demand for successful entrepreneurs and managers in tourism.

It will provide you with a critical understanding of tourism management and the global tourism marketplace, and will give you the ability and confidence to creatively solve management problems in the industry. You will learn to apply sustainable principles to the development of tourism and gain skills and knowledge in areas such as tourism marketing, human resource management, innovation, product development and destination planning.

Year 1
Students are required to study the following compulsory courses.

Tourism, Entrepreneurship and Technology (30 credits)
Personal and Professional Development – PPD1 (15 credits)
Sustainable Tourism (15 credits)

Career opportunities

Employment opportunities are available in areas such as tourism marketing, destination management and tourism policy with tour operators and many other businesses. Graduates from this programme can also launch their own tourism enterprise.
