Programme structure

The programme is deisgned for graduates, or similarly qualified individuals, with a mechanical engineering or scientific background (chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, materials science, metallurgy) who desire specialisation in Advanced Tribology.

Careers in tribology stretch across various engineering industries from automotive and oil and gas to marine and medical engineering.

The goals of the course are to give you:

an advanced knowledge of tribology which can deliver robust tribologically engineered solutions with enhanced performance and sustainability of machines
an understanding of the design, use, lubrication and computational analysis of tribological systems and an appreciation of their limitations
The aims of the programme are to:

– enable you to acquire advanced knowledge and practical skills needed for a professional career in tribology and to provide you with relevant specialist knowledge and skills – enhance your transferable skills, including critical analysis, problem solving, project management, decision making, leadership, and communication by oral, visual and/or written means – equip you with specialist knowledge, scientific and technical expertise and research skills for further research and/or application in the design of tribological systems.
