Programme structure
Focus of the training
The FH bachelor’s degree “Media Technology and Design” offers a broad, comprehensive education in the field of digital media, which particularly focuses on three main topics:
Multimedia
The combination of text, images, sound and video in a common medium for use in education (computer-based training), information (e.g. museum guides, catalogs), presentation and entertainment (games). A dynamic and technically demanding market.
3D computer graphics and animation
Until now largely reserved for specialists in expensive computer laboratories and film studios, computer graphics and animation are finding ever broader applications in the media sector. From the animated company logo to special effects in film production, the creative implementation at a high level is also important here.
Web / Internet
The web and internet is perhaps the largest potential work area for MTD graduates. The abundance of possible applications and the associated commercial potential are enormous. Solid basic knowledge in the field of telecommunications and IT are, in addition to design skills, a prerequisite for successful use in this rapidly growing environment, the economic importance of which can hardly be estimated.
Training elements:
technology
The technical training in MTD concentrates on the subject groups audio / video technology, computer science, networks, hypermedia, computer graphics and multimedia programming, whereby solid basic knowledge is supplemented by the most important specialist knowledge.
layout
The training in the field of design begins with elementary design techniques, typography and media history as preparation for special subjects such as multi-media design, audio / video design, 3D modeling and animation, media production and experimental media.
Organization, languages, personal development
Subjects such as business administration, advertising, marketing and law are also media-oriented. English as an additional technical language, practical teamwork and personal development are accompanying elements during the entire duration of the training.
