Entry qualification | Undergraduate diploma (or higher) Successful completion of at least a 6 semester specialised relevant Bachelor’s degree or a comparable higher education at university level (min 180 ECTS) at a recognized post-secondary institution. The FH Upper Austria also offers some degree programmes that are taught in English throughout. Applicants for English taught degree programmes are required to submit an English Certificate (IELTS, TOEFL) together with their application. If you take a TOEFL test, you can use our university’s TOEFL code (9775) to have the results sent to our institution directly. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / German. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Attention: if given preliminary admission, international applicants MUST provide legalised documents translated to German or English for the following documents: Legalisation confirms the authenticity of documents, signatures and authorities that issued the document. With its focus on lightweight construction, composites, materials science and production technology as well as its high proportion of R&D projects, this course is unique in Austria and in German-speaking countries. A smooth career start is ensured.

Composite materials, light metals, plastics, smart materials
Product development and design: building methods and construction
Manufacturing processes, joining technology and additive manufacturing / 3D printing
Simulation: material modeling, structure and process simulation, optimization
Structural, material, manufacturing and lightweight systems as well as bionics
Repair, maintenance, sustainability
Testing technology and test planning including material analysis (destructive and with CT, thermography, etc.)
Quality assurance and management, statistics
Accompanying project work with research institutions and companies
Leadership and social skills, business administration, law, english.
Career opportunities
Lightweight construction is becoming increasingly important worldwide in areas that are important for (Upper) Austria, such as automobile construction and aviation, among other things through e-mobility, mechanical engineering and sport. After completing their studies, graduates can work in a managerial position in the areas of material and process development, component design, construction and optimization, composite processing, technical project management or management, quality management and research and development. In addition, the graduates acquire entrepreneurial basics for an independent career in this innovative industry.
