Programme structure
The FH master’s degree in “Biotechnology and Environmental Technology” focuses on the in-depth imparting of technical / scientific knowledge in biotechnology and environmental technology and with specializations in selected areas (compulsory elective modules) in one of the two subject areas. The focus of the training is on environmental process engineering and environmental biotechnology, plant planning and technology and the accompanying (bio) analysis, the technology of food production and quality assurance / management. In terms of the comprehensive professional maturity of the graduates, “soft skills” such as language skills, personality-building, scientific and economic skills are taught at university level.
Qualification profile
Graduates are taught the skills to independently, innovatively and efficiently solve original planning, development and optimization tasks in different branches of bio and environmental technology. The courses for the necessary technical / scientific specialist knowledge are supplemented by economic subjects and courses to promote social skills. The curricular concept provides space for reflection, criticism, discussion and the learning of problem-solving skills.
Focus of the training
The students have the opportunity to choose between the elective areas of environmental engineering and biotechnology and then to delve into these in particular. Other important contents of the course are:
Environmental process engineering including plant planning / technology
Environmental biotechnology including plant planning / technology
(Bio) analytics
Quality management
Career opportunities
The master’s course enables graduates to carry out technical planning and development activities. The main tasks of such positions include the planning from the ground up and the further development of existing systems, which are of central importance in biotechnology and environmental technology. Thanks to their well-founded training and their potential for innovative new and further developments, graduates will cover the needs of industry and business.
Environmental Engineering
The area of responsibility of an environmental technician includes the topics of disposal, recycling, improving the ecosphere, designing environmentally friendly production processes and products, using environmentally optimized energy systems as well as bioanalytics and waste avoidance through environmentally friendly syntheses using biocatalysts, as well as the recovery of biological valuable substances from industrial waste.
