Career opportunities
The BSc (Hons) Sport Psychology degree provides you with the opportunities to gain direct employment-related skills in all of your modules including the planning and development of an intervention with an elite athlete in your final year. You will acquire a range of transferable skills which employers really rate; including project management, communication and negotiation skills, time management and a flexible and analytical approach to problem solving.
Many of our graduates wish to pursue a career in sport and exercise psychology and this degree provides you with the basis to continue to further study and training in this field. However, as your degree gives you the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the Society, you would be eligible to apply for accredited postgraduate study in other applied areas such as occupational, forensic, clinical and health psychology.
All of these career directions require a degree such as this one (which gives you the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership), a Society-approved postgraduate qualification and relevant supervised experience. Not all sport psychology graduates end practising as psychologists; some end up in teaching, counselling or coaching positions or in sports development settings. Some graduates go on to pursue sports related careers by taking further study and supervised practice with the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences.
