Career opportunities
The course offers excellent employability opportunities (94% of our design graduates were in employment and/or further study in 2017/18). Due the applied interdisciplinary nature of this course with its strong work-based components and close partnership working with industry, students develop skills that are attractive to employers. The course equips students to pursue career paths in areas such as: product, textile, museum or set design, ceramics, model making, visual merchandising, design consultancy, project management, marketing or post-graduate study in the UK or abroad.
Students often also choose to set up and run their own businesses to continue developing their own practice after graduation. Recent student examples include; the designing and making of sculptural models for the Science Museum in London; the selling of upcycled furniture and other sustainable products online; working as a project curator in a museum; providing workshops for community and educational groups and other roles within the creative industries.
