Programme structure
*Year one *
In your first year, you’ll be introduced to practical stagecraft techniques, equipment, technology and processes. You’ll gain knowledge of contemporary performance practice and learn about associated historical contexts. There will also be a chance to work in junior roles on live University performances.
You’ll start to specialise in particular areas of performance technology, gain nationally recognised competency training in health and safety and work practically on University Summer Schools, conferences, events and artist residencies.
*Year two *
You’ll have the chance to work with other courses on a collaborative performance project in the autumn term of your second year. Taking on more senior roles in University performances, both within and outside the University campus, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside professional staff on public programme events.
You’ll build on your experience in your first year by working on written projects with a design and/or production management focus. There will be a work placement period giving you the chance to work in professional environments with our many industry partners and work on pathways towards gaining employment.
