Programme structure

What will I study?
This course is designed for those who want to be at the centre of the management of construction procurement processes.

You will develop your knowledge and skills to successfully undertake the role of quantity surveyors and commercial managers in a construction team to secure the right quality scheme, on time and at the right price.

Quantity surveyors manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They are specialised accountants for the construction industry, aiming to minimise costs and enhance value for money, delivering projects to the required quality and on time.

A construction commercial manager is responsible for minimizing expenses without compromising quality. You will need strong financial skills, and the ability to negotiate and develop relationships with suppliers.

Year Two

Construction Technology (20 credits)

Contract Administration: Control and Finance (20 credits)
Project Development and Cost (20 credits)
Law and Contemporary Economics (20 credits)

Year Three
This is your optional work placement year. The third year work placement is spent working in industry gaining valuable experience.
