Programme structure

Your course in brief

Year 1

You will study core modules in Engineering Analytics, Mechanics & Structures, Technical & Graphical Communication and Academic Skills, Materials, Land Surveying, and Engineering Design an Introduction to Fluids.

Year 2

You will begin to specialise with modules in: Structural Analysis; Structural Design; Further Mathematics; Hydraulics & Hydrology; Engineering Geology & Geotechnics; and Construction Project Management & Digital Engineering [BIM].

Year 3

You will have the option to go out on an industrial placement to put the skills you have learned in the previous modules into professional practice.

Year 4

You will study modules in Geotechnical Engineering; Environmental Engineering; Transportation; and Structural Methods and Models. You will undertake a major Research Project in a topic of your choice.

Year 5

You will take your knowledge to the next level with modules in Collaborative Management of Civil Engineering; Infrastructure Engineering Design; Structural Integrity & Historical Engineering; Highway Engineering; Slope Instabilities; and an Interdisciplinary Engineering Project.
