Programme structure

Your course in brief

Year 1

Year 1 will introduce the evolution of the built environment, law, Building Information Modelling, core surveying and construction technology skills.

Year 2

Year 2 includes a residential field trip. You will build your inspection, survey and appraisal skills. Learn about building performance, pathology, sustainability, legislation and contracts.

Year 3

Year 3 is an optional salaried industry placement, which you will be prepared for in Year 2 and supported through by the Placements Team.

Year 4

Year 4 includes the popular Building Advice Centre module, advising real clients. Specialise further by completing your dissertation in an area of personal interest.

You will graduate with a respected qualification and the knowledge and practical experience that will prepare you for a career inbuilding surveying.

The majority of our graduates progress into chartered surveying with global companies such as CBRE, Cushman and Wakefield, Knight Frank, , with others moving into related areas including project management and sustainable building technology. Whether you want to work in the public sector, for an independent surveying company or a multinational corporation, this degree will equip you with the tools and techniques you will need to work in this field.

The design of the programme strongly supports postgraduate study and many former graduates have moved on to Masters or PhD level study.
