Programme structure

Programme Year One

In the first year, students are introduced to both the fundamentals of management studies and the basic concepts and skills necessary for a broad understanding of the marketing environment.

Programme Year Two

Students will take three specialist marketing modules – Retail Marketing, Market Research and Services Marketing – together with further business and management-related modules. This enables the student to continue to develop a broader understanding of the contemporary business environment, whilst maintaining a specific focus on marketing within that environment.

Programme Year Three

The third year of the programme is spent on placement. Students will complete a year-long graduate-level placement, which will provide them with valuable work experience and an opportunity to further enhance the skills and attributes sought after by top employers. Students may apply for UK-based placements, or seek overseas placements or a role at Suzhou Business Park, China. Students will be visited at least twice by University staff whilst on placement and will complete placement-related assessments in May.

Programme Year Four

The final year of study consolidates knowledge and understanding through providing an opportunity for personal study and research, as well as modules that probe more deeply into critical and international marketing issues.

Subject to performance in Year Two, final year students also have the opportunity to undertake an Independent Study Module, in which they research and write about a marketing-related issue of their choice.
