Entry qualification | Undergraduate diploma (or higher) Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with economics or engineering and English background. *NOTE: Successful applicants without a Bachelor degree in Engineering or Industrial Design can sign up for a 1 semester preparation under the International Foundation Programme (IFP) and will then commence with the IPM master programme the following semester. More details during the inverview process should the applicant be sucessful. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / German. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Attention: if given preliminary admission, international applicants MUST provide legalised documents translated to German or English for the following documents: Legalisation confirms the authenticity of documents, signatures and authorities that issued the document. Programme structure
Development Process Engineering (DPE) is a sub-system of R&D management, which coordinates planning, managing and controlling the necessary information in an R&D process. Graduates of this specialization can examine, optimize and implement new product development processes in order to ensure shorter time-to-market. A special focus is put on designing the right information system for R&D.
Programme content
In addition to various courses in innovation management, marketing and product management, new business development and sustainability, this specialization includes such courses as Virtual and Augmented Reality, Product Lifecycle Management, Model Based Engineering, Multi-Project Management, Simultaneous Engineering, Reverse Engineering, Digital Factory and R&D Controlling.

Product Concept Design is a strategic and conceptual approach to new product development. Against the background of fundamentally changing global environment for design, production and consumption of industrial manufactured products, this specialization focuses on the design of sustainable product and system concepts, and the integration of all design-relevant factors in the innovation process. Graduates of this specialization can act as catalysts for creative, sustainable and future-oriented innovations.
The approach of Product Concept Design is not to put the mass-designed, market-ready product into the foreground, but to focus on the compelling strategic and conceptual approach and the advanced product concept. Only by this essential contributions to the development and implementation of sustainable innovation strategies in companies can be achieved. Against the background of fundamentally changing global environment for design, production and consumption of industrial manufactured products here the focus clearly concentrates on the design of sustainable product and system concepts and “human technology”.
The aim of the specialization Product Concept Design is the impetus for creative entrepreneurs with in-depth knowledge of design and its potential for sustainable and future-oriented innovations. Universalists, who understand the relationships and are able to give creative impetus for a sustainable future.

In addition to various courses in innovation management, marketing and product management, new business development and sustainability, this specialization includes such courses as Design & Prototyping, Drawing Techniques, Design Theory, Computer Aided Industrial Design, Strategic Design and several design projects.
Career opportunities
As Development Process Engineer you will coordinate new product development activities with suppliers, development partners and customers. You may fulfill a wide range of tasks in companies as:
Design and implementation of efficient, integrated development process with optimal information flow between all involved parties.
Tracking of project performance measures such as resources, cost, schedule, quality and technology.
Presentation of the results as part of project development and design reviews.
Feasibility studies.
Creation and maintenance of specification lists, specifications and tolerances.
Planning and monitoring of external design and analysis tasks.
Analysis of existing approaches and development of future-oriented solutions.
As Product Concept Designer you will develop innovative products and design concepts and will be responsible for the integration of all design-relevant factors in the development and innovation process of mechatronic products.
