Programme structure

What will I study?
This course develops the knowledge and skills to successfully undertake the role of quantity surveyor – ensuring that the aims and objectives of construction projects are met in terms of cost, value, quality and time.

Below is a list of the modules you’ll study and the attached document explains each module in more detail.

Year One

Introduction to Measurement and Cost (20 credits)
Fundamentals of Construction and Practice (40 credits)
Numerical and Professional Skills (20 credits)
Law and Health and Safety (20 credits)
Architectural Science and Building Engineering Services (20 credits)

Year Two

Construction Technology (20 credits)
Estimating, Measurement and Cost (40 credits)
Sustainable Technology with Environmental Control (20 credits)
Contract Administration: Control and Finance (20 credits)
Law and Contemporary Economics (20 credits)

Year Three
Optional work placement year
This is your opportunity to gain real experience in industry through a work placement year.

Final year

Construction Procurement and International Studies (20 credits)
Contract Practice (20 credits)
Industrial Practice for Quantity Surveyors (20 credits)
Facilities Management and Maintenance (20 credits)
Dissertation (40 credits)
