What will I study?
Year One
Core modules include:

Political Ideologies in Conflict
British Political History from Civil War to EU
British Politics from the Civil War to the Global Age
Foundations and Challenges in International Relations
Media, Power and Politics.
Year Two
Core modules include:

Researching Politics and International Relations
Great Political Thinkers.
Choose optional modules from a range that includes:

Identity, Class and Nation
Global Political Economy
Politics of European Integration
Contemporary European Politics
Working in International Contexts
International Security
Change and the World Order
A Foreign Language.
On the Researching Politics module in Year Two you will have the opportunity to gain work experience with a number of local and national organisations, with your work reports forming part of the assessment.

Year Three
Core module include:

Dissertation
Contemporary Global Trajectories.
Choose optional modules from a range that includes:

Russian Politics and society
The Politics of Everyday Life
Power and Politics in the European Union
Transnational Media and Society
German Democracy and Dictatorships
Hyperpower Politics: the USA
International Relations of the Middle East and North Africa
International Relations of Southeast Asia
Political Violence and Terror
Foreign Language.

This course opens up careers in a wide range of fields in the public and private sectors. You may be keen to pursue a career in local politics and local government. You may also be interested in working in the police service, the civil service and public relations.
