What are my employability prospects?
93% of our graduates are employed or engaged in further study six months after leaving (Latest DLHE Survey Undergraduate results 2012 / 13).
Data regularly shows that economics graduates can expect to be highly valued by employers, and graduates with an economics degree typically enjoy some of the highest starting salaries of any new graduate*. This is because an economics graduate brings a distinctive perspective to an organisation. Economists are also regarded as great problem-solvers, highly analytical, numerate and able to make sense of large amounts of often complex information. This means that, in addition to roles as professional economists in private and public sector organisations, our graduates gain employment in a variety of fields.
Many recent graduates are working as analysts across finance, energy, retail and information technology sectors, with some securing management responsibility. In addition, our graduates also work successfully in other fields including education, recruitment and event management.
Our economics graduates are also sought after by well-known employers from across the country, with past graduates securing positions at companies such as Barclays, E.ON, Mars Corporation, Next, KPMG, Weetabix and Experian.
