What our students say
“The content of this course looked challenging yet enjoyable, which really appealed to me. It was the right choice – I’m enjoying my time in the labs, developing practical skills, carrying out experiments and getting to know other students and lecturers.

“All in all, I’d say this course has a good structure, a great student atmosphere and friendly staff. You get the opportunity to carry out research too, which is a fantastic experience for any Chemistry student.”

Shane Barber, MChem / BSc (Hons) Chemistry

Learn a new language
Alongside your study you also have the opportunity to learn a new language. The University Language Programme (ULP) is available to all students and gives you the option of learning a totally new language or improving the skills you already have.

Learning a new language can:

enhance your communication skills
enrich your experience when travelling abroad
boost your career prospects.

Career opportunities

Chemistry graduates have excellent employment prospects and possess a wide range of academic and transferable skills. On completion of this course, you will be well placed to enter a career as:

an analytical chemist
a chemist
a pharmaceutical chemist
a PhD student
a research and development chemist
a teacher.
These positions have been secured in organisations such as:

AstraZeneca
Augean
Bayern Oil
Boots
Castle Environmental
WSP Environmental.
Many graduates also choose to undertake further study on one of our Masters-level courses or MPhil and PhD research degrees.

What our students say
“Studying Chemistry at NTU has been an asset to everything I have done since – from working as a Chemist, to teaching English in South America, working in Police Intelligence, and (currently) Performance Management. The scope given to improve my analytical thinking, approach to learning, ability to put theory into practice, and build relationships was second to none, and are tools which I use in my daily life at work and home. So thank you, NTU!”
