Programme structure

First year

Students take the following compulsory modules:

Legal Skills and Methods
Public Law
Criminal Law
Law of Contract
Foundations of International Law and Globalisation
Global Law and Globalisation

Second year

In your second year you’ll take compulsory modules in:

International Dispute Resolution
Law of Torts
Land Law
Legal Foundations of the European Union
Public International Law
Contemporary Issues in International Law and Globalisation

Year abroad

You can apply to study abroad for a year in an approved university around the world. If you achieve a grade of 2.1 or above in your first year then you will be invited to apply for a Year Abroad in your second year. If your application is successful, you will go abroad in your third year and return to us for your final year. Find out more.

Final year

In the final year you will study three compulsory modules:

Law of Trusts and Equity
Legal Systems of the World
Private International Law

You will also study three optional modules including a minimum of two from the following four modules:

Comparative Public Law
International Criminal Law
International Economic Law
International Human Rights Law

Should you only choose two of the above you will also study one other optional module from the range available within the Law School which may include:

Career opportunities

This degree is a ‘qualifying’ degree; this means that it provides exemption from the first or academic stage of the examinations required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board before you can qualify as a solicitor or barrister.
