Theology:
You will take our compulsory module, Introduction to the Study of Religion, and 40 credits of optional modules. There are plenty of subjects to choose from including Introduction to the History of Christianity, which is co-taught by the Department of History and Department of Theology and Religion.

Theology:
Depending on your chosen balance of study, you will study 40, 60 or 80 credits from our wide range of optional modules. If you are planning to take a Theology dissertation in your final year, it is compulsory for you take the Dissertation Preparation module.

Year abroad
You can apply to study abroad for a year in an approved university around the world. If you achieve a grade of 2.1 or above in your first year then you will be invited to apply for a Year Abroad in your second year. If your application is successful, you will go abroad in your third year and return to us for your final year. Find out more.

History
Compulsory modules:
Special Subject A+B (20 + 20 credits)
Optional Modules:
Students can also take an Advanced Option A, an Advanced Option B or a Joint Honours History dissertation for a further 20 credits or two of these modules for a further 40 credits.
If you studied Research Methods (Dissertation Preparation) in year 2 you would normally be expected to do a 40 credit dissertation in History (for 80 credits in total).
History final year detailed module descriptions
Theology:
You will be expected to undertake an independent research project. History and Theology students can chose to do this in either History or Theology. If you do a dissertation in History, you are not obliged to do another in Theology. Alternatively, you can write a Link Dissertation, which combines both subjects and is jointly supervised.
Depending on your chosen balance of study, you will study 40, 60 or 80 credits of optional Theology modules.
