Programme structure
Core/Compulsory modules: Statistical Theory and Linear Models; Statistical Computing; Design of Experiments; Generalised Linear Models; Clinical Trials; Epidemiological Methods; Survival Analysis; Research Skills
Option modules: e.g. Bioinformatics; Statistical Genetics; Topics in Statistics (research-led); Modelling Hierarchical (Multi-level and Longitudinal) Data; Computer Intensive Statistical Methods; Multivariate Analysis; Survey Methods; Bayesian Methods
A highlight of the programme is the 3-month dissertation completed over the summer, which will provide an opportunity to study a topic of your choice more deeply. Some projects are provided by pharmaceutical companies, while others are set and supervised by Medical Statisticians at the General Hospital here in Southampton to give you first hand experience of their work. There will also be a broad range of further Statistical topics available, reflecting the diverse research areas of our staff.
