Programme structure

Challenges like these have led to an increasing demand for transportation professionals across the world. Our MSc in Transportation Planning and Engineering (TPE), is designed to help meet this demand.

As a student on the programme, you will gain a sound knowledge of the theory and concepts involved in transportation planning and engineering. You will benefit from the expertise available within our 25-strong Transportation Research Group, as well as from some 20 Transport professionals from external organisations who contribute to the programme.

The full-time MSc programme lasts for 12 months. The first 8 months are normally spent mainly on the taught component, with lectures divided into two 12-week periods (Semesters 1 and 2), and with exams at the end of each semester. The final 4 months are spent full-time on a research project, for which some preparation is done in Semester 2.

The taught component comprises a number of modules totalling 120 credit points. Among these, 90 credit points are compulsory, and the rest can be selected from the given list in the Modules section. Suitable alternative modules, perhaps from other programmes, may be substituted at the discretion of the Programme Organiser.
