Programme structure
We place a high emphasis upon equipping our students with the skills to engage in institutional and professional development and respond to best practice from a global perspective. This programme brings together the best in professional knowledge and practice, cutting edge research and evaluation evidence.
There is a focus on developing the professional skills required to meet the challenges of continuous change and its potential impact upon those who manage and lead schools, public and private sector institutions, and other teachers and educational practitioners.
The degree will enable you to develop and improve your knowledge, understanding and practice as educational managers and leaders by critically analysing and synthesising national, international research and policy, plus to communicate outcomes in clear and convincing ways so as to enhance institutional performance.
In this programme, you will normally take four common modules: Understanding education research, Learning and teaching, Policy and curriculum and Dissertation
You also choose an option, from topics such as: Inclusion and social justice in action, Globalisation and internationalisation in education, Learning and digital literacies, Mentoring and staff development, School effectiveness and improvement, Research issues in mathematics education. These reflect our research expertise within the School. You may also be able to take an option from a range of master’s modules offered across the University.
You complete the programme with two pathway modules: Leadership in education, and Organisation and governance of educational institutions.
