Programme structure
In preparation, the University’s Language Centre has devised a language component especially for scientists, which will comprise 25 per cent of your degree. You will study a common core of basic marine science, and then you may choose to specialise in chemical, physical or geological aspects of oceanography or follow a broader general pathway that gives you a fully interdisciplinary approach to ocean science.
Career opportunities
Graduates of our National Oceanographic Centre are rightly perceived as having a greater degree of independence and self-reliance than comparable graduates from other institutions.
This degree in oceanography with French gives you enormous scope for career development with International oceanographic research projects, particularly those involving French-speaking countries worldwide.
Also there will be openings in government and commercial laboratories and agencies and in European industry. If you prefer to stay in academia there are many opportunities for scientific postgraduate study.
