Career opportunities

Career opportunities for BSc Environmental Sciences graduates are wide-ranging and include: environmental consultancy; sustainability strategy and policy; nature conservation; research environmental scientist; local, regional or national government; environmental management; environmental regulation enforcement; flood management and response; contaminated land; environmental impact assessment (EIA); environmental education; waste management; marine conservation; primary, secondary, further or higher education.

Organisations which have employed recent graduates include: United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF); Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra); Environment Agency; Ramboll; URS; BP; The Sustainability Centre; Bovis Lend Lease; Oil Spill Response Limited; WYG; Landell Mills; Olive Consultancy; Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. Many of our graduates also go on to be researchers, many at Southampton but also, for example, at Oxford, Warwick, Sussex and overseas.
