Programme structure

Year 1

In Year 1, you will study a broad range of biosciences topics to allow you to develop a strong foundation of knowledge in the subject. Laboratory practical sessions will complement your study of theoretical modules in topics such as physiology and biochemistry.

Year 2

During Year 2, you will study more applied sport and exercise science modules alongside further modules in physiology, biochemistry and nutrition.

Year 3:

In Year 3, you will have the opportunity to tailor your own degree by choosing optional modules in specific topics such as biomechanics, psychology and management. You will also complete a research project, carried out under the supervision of a member of academic staff. The university staff has considerable expertise in sports medicine, sports physiology and nutrition, sport and musculo-skeletal health including stress fracture risk, as well as sport and exercise health in key health outcomes including prostate cancer, diabetes, metabolic syndrome and appetite regulation. Multidisciplinary projects are also possible, for students interested in biomechanics, psychology and management, for example.
