The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) is a secure, hands-on environment where they can develop and innovate as global citizens – to come together to share in development, networking and practice. This is how University plans to shape and change the world we live in, while they develop their own knowledge and skills.

THUAS lecturers, partners and 26,000 students from nearly 150 different countries are dedicated to this development every day. The global, innovative attitude is reflected throughout our curricula and in our four central themes: The Next Economy, Quality of Life: People and Technology, Good Governance for a Safe World and Connected Learning. They also work closely with over 300 exchange partners from more than 50 countries, from Brazil and China to Australia, USA and several European countries.

University encourages students, lecturers and partners to develop into open-minded global citizens – to stand firm in their own convictions and face the world. They realise that their own professional commitment makes a difference and all must work together to develop and apply creative solutions.

The Hague University of Applied Sciences consists of faculties, research groups and service departments. More than 25,000 students are enrolled in a Bachelor, Master or post-graduate programme at one of the four sites and more than 1900 people work at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, 65% of whom are in an education-related position and 35% in a support position.

TUITION FEES

EU-students tuition fees are €2,143. In the 2021-2022 academic year, they will be €1,084.
Non-EU students Institutional tuition fee *€8,375 

*The Dutch government proposes a one-off reduction of tuition fees for everyone enrolled in higher education in the academic year 2021-2022. The general aim is to give students some financial breathing space during this difficult coronavirus during this academic year the tuition fee is  €7,391

Scholarships

There are different ways to finance your studies depending upon whether you come from the EU/EEA and Switzerland or outside the region.

Financial support for EU/EEA and non EU/EEA students

As an international student in university or higher professional education in the Netherlands you can apply for student finance.

Holland Scholarship

Do you come from outside the EEA (EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or Switzerland and want to do your bachelor degree at THUAS? You can apply for the €5,000 Holland Scholarship financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Dutch universities.

Orange Tulip Scholarship

The Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS) is part of the Holland Scholarship and is offered by Dutch higher education institutions, multinationals and government organisations for talented students. The OTS is available in Brazil, China, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam.

ACCOMMODATION

THUAS cooperates with accommodation providers who offer student rooms to thir first year incoming international students. With this service, THUAS can assist approximately 50% of the incoming students. For students starting in September 2020. THUAS has a quota of around 650 rooms. The rooms that are offered are both serf-contained as shared-facilities and are fully furnished.

THUAS charges a non-refundable housing fee of €275. For their help (free for Master students) This fee is charged to cover the costs that come along with reserving this designated quota of rooms for international students.

LIVING EXPENSES

Your daily expenses include food, public transport, books, clothes, and cinema tickets. But you also need to take into account the costs for housing and insurance. Don’t forget to take any costs of living abroad (like phoning home) into account. 

An average room in the Netherlands costs somewhere between €300 to €600 a month. The costs depend on the type of room you have, what is included in the rent, if the room is furnished, if you will have to share your room (or the facilities) and the size of the room. 

Experience has shown that students living and studying in Holland for one year spend between €800 and €1,100 a month. Your first year costs are usually higher, as you’re buying the books you’ll need for the whole programme. You’ll probably spend around €75 on materials in the first few weeks.
